November 14: Goose Bump Jump! Take a gander to the “wild” side and “jump” into the Chesapeake Bay at Betterton Beach to support our community’s adults who have developmental disabilities such as mental retardation, autism and physical disabilities! November 6-8: World Championship Punkin Chunkin. It began in 1986 as a group of men sat in a local blacksmith shop arguing over who could throw an anvil farthest. Someone heard some local college students were throwing pumpkins by hand to raise funds for their school. The group embellished that event. Anvils turned to pumpkins and Punkin' Chunkin' was born. November 1: Sultana Projects' Downrigging Weekend. Every fall, Sultana Projects hosts a multi-day festival known as Downrigging Weekend to celebrate the close of the schooner Sultana's sailing season. Tall ships and historic vessels from across the mid-Atlantic and beyond visit Sultana's home port of Chestertown for this public event which draws thousands of people to Chestertown. Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the top 100 standup comedians of all time, Sinbad has built a loyal following by taking audiences’ painful trials or embarrassing tribulations of day-by-day life, throwing them back in their faces, and causing an uproar of comedic hysteria.
